5 Easy Beauty Tricks to Fake a Good Night’s Sleep

I guess this is a common story we moms have.

We barely get a decent sleep!

We Filipinos have a street word for it – ngarag.

ngarag (n.)

A word from the Filipino urbanite that means:
1. soooooo exhausted or crazy exhausting
2. noun. like haggard

1. I'm now ngarag over these term papers that I'm rushing.
2. You seem to look ngarag

We moms get so ngarag because of our baby’s late night feedings or our kids are nursing a fever or they they are scared there are monsters in the closet or we had to catch that late night teleserye.  Whatever the reason of our “ngarag-ness” (o.k., I made up that word.  Will it end up at the Urban Dictionary?) , I am so sure that getting little sleep can actually make you feel worse than you already do.

Fortunately, there are beauty tricks to make you look like you’ve got your eight-hour sleep.  Here they are:

Behavior No. 1 : Toddler Drinking Bathwater

One of the greatest fears I had when my kids were wee ones (like 2 years old and below) is that they will get sick drinking their bathwater! Why would they ever do that???

My kids’ pediatrician said that it is common for a toddler to want to drink the bathwater.

"We celebrated our first National Breakfast Day in 2013 to share the goodness of a McDonald's breakfast to more Filipinos," said Yang.

The National Breakfast Day experience goes beyond March 14 through a “breakfast surprise.” Participating McDonald’s stores nationwide further spread the morning cheer by giving 100 free McMuffin sandwiches to groups or organizations who are unable to enjoy a good breakfast because of their early or different work schedules. Examples of these are security guards, hospital staff, and public school teachers.

Watch McDonald’s beautiful surprise!

“We are happy to continually delight our customers with a beautiful breakfast experience for the fourth time in a row—it’s McDonald’s best Monday ever,” said Yang. “We hope to see everyone every day at McDonald’s to enjoy our delicious and affordable breakfast offers,” he added.

Do You Have A Favorite Child?

Are you guilty of giving more love and attention toward only one child?

For a parent to be fair, each child is treated the same way, and given the same amount of attention.  This is never easy.  We all play favorites and we can’t help it. What you can avoid is showing it.
Favoritism is manifested in many ways – and for many reasons, according to an expert.

Mutual Funds and Unit Investment Trust Funds 101

Do Mutual Funds really give the same opportunity to small investors as the big investors have in the stock market? Are Unit Investment Trust Funds the same as Mutual Funds?

You’re right! Mutual Funds (MF) and Unit Investment Trust Funds (UITF) provide small investors the same opportunities as they offer big ones.  The difference in the possible returns to the investor lies in the investment policy and strategy employed by the Fund Managers.  This is why it is important to read and understand the information memo issued by each Fund, and examine the names of the Board of Directors.  Reputable people will not allow their names to be used by a fund or a bank that is not reliable.  In any investment, talk directly to the people in charge of the companies you’d like to invest in.  Understand how they have performed over the years and what their plans are.

5 Time Management Tips For Super Moms

As a mom, have you ever wished that days should be 48 hours instead of 24?

I see you nodding!

A mom’s job is never done.  I bet that, like me, you end your day when everyone is asleep, wake up when everyone is still asleep, prepare breakfast and the coffee (this is very important! I need a pot!), get everyone ready, drive the kids to school, rush to work, pick the kids from school, drive them to their singing/guitar/swimming/aikido lessons, cook dinner, tidy up the house, run a single load of laundry, rinse and repeat.

I am exhausted just reading what we moms do…

Well, my hair is not yet turning gray from all this stress and this may be because I have some organizing and time saving tips for you!

Here they are:

Let your kids pitch in.

How To Save Energy In The Kitchen

By cooking meals at home, you get to save money.  And when you use your kitchen appliances properly, you can save energy as well.  Here are ways you can cut your electric bills:

Be energy-aware.  Keep the lid on the pot.  Use less water when cooking eggs and vegetables.  Use a pressure cooker.  Don’t preheat the oven.  If you have an electric stove, switch off the hotplates and the oven sooner, and let the food finish cooking free of charge.

Get rid of energy-guzzlers – and check power consumption of any new appliances before you buy them.  Old refrigerators are very inefficient and they stay on all the time.  Buy only energy-efficient appliances.

Put your refrigerator in a cool place, secured with 60 in drawer slides,  not near the stove or near the heat of the sun.  Make sure its seals are intact and ventilation grills dust-free.

Never heat water on a hotplate.  Electric kettles are more efficient, but heating water on a gas ring is even more efficient.  Heating water consumes a lot of energy, so don’t heat more than what you need.
Unplug the coffee maker after use.  Transfer extra coffee into a thermos instead of continuously heating it on the coffee maker.
