Sometimes, you just need to take a break for a few days and have a change of scenery. I’ve found that loads of cities are great for full-on holidays, and then there are some that are better suited for short breaks.
Amongst the many cities, you have to choose from, Knoxville is one of the best locations for a small break over a long weekend. Why? Because it has so much to offer, and I’ll prove it to you in the points below!
Experience Excitement Downtown
Downtown Knoxville is home to so many exciting things. It’s pretty much the beating heart of the city, and there are dozens of quirky cafes, luxurious restaurants, and places with live music as well. The great thing is, there are plenty of hotels in this area, like the Knoxville Marriott, providing you with a brilliant place to stay amidst the hub of this awesome city. Just have a walk around the downtown area, making sure you stop at Historic Market Square. Expect some slick vibes here, with loads of talented buskers adding to an already buzzing atmosphere. It’s almost like there’s a constant party going on downtown, it’s great if you want to escape your stressful life for a bit.
Enjoy Food Like No Other At The Farmers Market
Like most southern cities, Knoxville has a reputation for providing some excellent eateries in and around the place. However, it’s also home to probably the best market in the whole of Tennessee. If you go somewhere for a city break, you want to take in the best this city has to offer. So, go to the Knoxville Farmers Market and fill yourself full of delicious local treats. Everything is made fresh before your eyes, and it’s a mouth-watering experience. There’s savory mixed with sweet, meaning you can pretty much enjoy a three-course meal just by wandering around the different stalls. For authentic southern cuisine, this is an unrivalled hotspot.
Engage In A Performance At The Iconic Tennessee Theatre
Knoxville is home to one of the most legendary and famous theatres in the whole country. It’s a place that needs to be at the top of your itinerary, and there are many ways you can enjoy it. The theatre regularly plays classic films that you can enjoy at any time during the year. But, there are also many shows and plays that take place here too, which is definitely something you should try and get tickets too. If music is more your thing, then they have numerous classical performances throughout the year as well. Again, it’s the perfect way to unwind and really take in the culture of this fantastic city.
In my eyes, there are few places as tailormade for city breaks than Knoxville. Sure, it doesn’t offer all the crazy tourism things you see in many other big cities – but that’s the point! The amount of people visiting this city is fairly low, which means you can have a really relaxing time during your trip. It’s perfect for a few days away from home, when you just need a change of scenery to recharge your batteries.
