I just want to let you know that all opinions are my own and I may earn from qualifying purchases. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Enjoy and feel free to share with your friends!

I love coconut oil!  I use it for cooking, for my hair, for my aching back, for my skin, on my kakanin, it actually trimmed my belly fat!  (Yep! Coconut oil boosts your metabolism! Read all about it here.)

Is there anything that coconut oil can’t do?

Coconut oil used to get a bad rap for being oily and unhealthy, but the tables have turned!

Now, raw, organic, extra-virgin coconut oil is one of the healthiest oils which has the ability to do some awesome things to your diet! Some people claim it is fat, and yes, coconut oil is fat, but it is healthy fat that supports the functions of your body’s systems.

And it gives you great skin as well!

My grandmother who lived in the Ilocos region here in the Philippines where coconuts are abundant used coconut oil for her skin and hair.  She had the softest skin, and the silkiest hair ever! In fact, her skin and hair were better than mine (I kid not!) and I thought I was using the best lotions then!

Now that I know better, coconut is my oil!

Here are  four reasons why you will  love coconut oil for your skin, too:

coconutRain or shine, snowy or sunny, coconut oil keeps your skin protected and hydrated!
Yep, coconut oil is the oil for all seasons!  It is perfect for summer because it is light and not that greasy AND it blocks about 20% of the sun’s harmful rays.
In cold weather, a layer of coconut oil on your face, lips and hands protects you from the cold.  And when you get those really dry spots because of the cold, just rub coconut oil to soothe the tightness.
coconutCoconut oil will soothe minor wounds and irritations.
Studies reveal that coconut oil has:

  • antiseptic,
  • anti-bacterial,
  • anti-viral, and
  • anti-fungal properties.

It can heal:

  • canker sores,
  • insect bites,
  • minor burns, and
  • other small wounds and skin irritation

coconutCoconut oil fights skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis and acne
I have been plagued with atopic dermatitis ever since and coconut oil is my choice for moisturizing dry spots,  A double-blind controlled clinical trial revealed that coconut oil was more effective than olive oil in killing bacteria, mainly because of coconut oil’s lauric acid content.
Studies also showed that lauric acid has antimicrobial properties which makes it probably perfect in healing acne!
coconutCoconut oil reduces wrinkles
All right, so coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer.  What else can it do?
It blasts those free radicals, those nasty things that give you those frown lines and wrinkles and uneven skin tone!  Coconut oil may be the perfect anti-aging serum because of its:

  • anti-inflammatory properties and
  • anti-oxidants.
  • For best results, slather on coconut oil into your skin everyday! (and every nightWinking smile)

Amazing, right?
