A lot of things improve with age.
Who is not afraid of wrinkles?
I am. I bet you are, too. Since I turned 40, I probably must have sent a fortune – enough to buy a small house (nah, just kidding…) – on every new wrinkle cream, collagen and glutathione injections, makeup and tons of beauty products.
I haven’t really considered going under the knife, though, because I don’t have that much wrinkles, thanks to me being Asian and to the following supercharged tactics:
Use Face Wash wisely.
Apply skin products properly.
- Toner
- Serum/Retinoids/Bleaching Agents
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen
Be on the lookout for breakthrough ingredients.
When it comes to aging, retinoids are the gold standard. This group of chemicals is derived from vitamin A and can do wonders to the skin in different ways, including slowing down the signs of aging.
If you’re experiencing cystic acne and other skin conditions that require an expert’s intervention, your dermatologist is more likely to prescribe retinoids. Weaker forms are also available over the counter for people looking into incorporating retinoids into their skincare routine.
To build a foolproof anti-aging skincare routine, get your hands on the best retinol serum and focus on skin hydration. Retinol, a type of retinoid with lower concentrations of the compound, helps stimulate collagen production and promote skin cell renewal, thus improving your skin texture and preventing fine lines and wrinkles from developing early and rapidly.
To counteract the drying and sensitizing effects of retinol on your skin, you can add hydrating and moisturizing ingredients to your routine, such as:
- Panthenol
- Glycerin
- Centella asiatica
- Niacinamide
- Hyaluronic acid
- Ceramides
Most importantly, don’t forget to wear sunscreen daily, as retinol increases your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight and UV rays. If you’re using any form of retinoid consistently, ensure you apply a broad-spectrum, SPF 30 sunscreen diligently.
While signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and saggy skin are unavoidable, especially for people reaching 40 years of age, using the right skincare ingredients can help hinder their progress.
