I just want to let you know that all opinions are my own and I may earn from qualifying purchases. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Enjoy and feel free to share with your friends!

My girls hate their school uniform and would probably prefer to go to school with their jammies instead.

Well, some teens actually get to do just that!

Here is …

Home schoolers have no friends!

FALSE.  They are not just locked up in their house all day long studying!  Home schoolers usually have a ton of extracurricular activities like sports or art classes where they can meet new friends.  Sure they don’t have a school barkada* that they bond with everyday, but the kids they get to meet during their activities are of different ages, so there isn’t any shyness of talking to someone from the “higher batch”. Plus, no bullies for sure.

“I don’t have to worry about being bullied by my classmates and teachers when I was absent.  It was traumatic to be bullied.”

Mikayla, attended regular school from first to fourth grade, currently home schooled.

Home schoolers feel left out of some experiences that come with attending a regular school.

KIND OF TRUE.  Where else would you get memories and stories to tell about terror teachers, intramurals, fun plays and school fairs?  While it may sound so lame not to go through these experiences, don’t feel bad for homeschoolers!  They’ve got their own set of cool memories too, like eating “during class” or family vacations turned into fun, “field trips”!

Being home schooled means you’re rich or an “artista”.

FALSE.  Parents choose to home school their kids for several reason, some even because the parents are saving money or some because their kids have problems with their health so it’s hard for them to keep up with regular school.  Whatever the decision is, home schooling can be for everyone, not just for the elite.

Home schooled education isn’t as good as regular school.

FALSE.  Home schooled education’s got lessons that each kid follows, and just like in any school, they’ve got school books, activities and tests to pass before they go up a grade level.  And since the “teacher” usually ends up being their mom or parents, they want what’s best for the “student” all the time, so it’s super sure that the “teachers” won’t let them down by giving them a so-so education (unlike those teachers who just read straight from the textbook or terrorize you during recitation).

School is easier for home schoolers.

TRUE. Home schoolers have their own class schedule and around five to eight hours each day.  They can start their school anytime they want, do homework and take lessons in advance so that they never miss an important event.  When you’re done with one grade level, you can even start out on a new one without waiting for the next school year to come around

“If I was in a regular school, I’d need to wake up early.  I am so lucky that I make my own schedule.  My Mom and I got closer because she is the one who teaches me.”

Mikayla, attended regular school from first to fourth grade, currently home schooled.

Get the feel of home schooling without leaving your real school!

ClockSet aside time to bond with your family.  Since homeschoolers go to school in their own homes, they spend a lot more time with their family compared to kids who go to regular school.  Next time your mom asks you, “How was school?” give a longer and more detailed answer than “Okay lang.”
PrincessBe independent and responsible.  Home schoolers handle their own time and it’s all up t them if they’re going to reach the next grade level or not.  Learn how to prioritize and focus on your schoolwork to please yourself – not just to get that passing grade to show the parents.  Do well in school for you!
MoneySpend money wisely.  Being home schooled means less money spent on tuition, uniforms, gas, and other school-related stuff like materials for projects or field trip fees.  Learn to recycle what you can from your school stuff and spend your allowance on only what’s super needed – your parents will thank you for it.

Our homeschooler have science fair, plays, and even prom. We have co-ops with different classes too. We even meet at the park weekly just for all of the kids to play on top of violin, archery, and other classes where they meet with friends.

Homeschoolers now really don't miss out on anything except excessive amounts of busy work.
