Eight years ago, after my two girls, I was blessed with my baby boy Adrian and a sprinkling of dark spots all over my face.
I kid not.
It was like somebody opened a bottle of ink and droplets splashed on my face.
And since I was strictly breastfeeding and I cannot do any drastic procedure like sandpaper my face (although I seriously considered it), I turned into a whitening product which is safe for pregnant and breastfeeding
women.
women.
Godiva LicoWhite Cream.
It worked! And I have a jar of it stashed inside my drawers to prove to you that I did use it.

For quite some time though, I haven’t seen Godiva products.
Until about a month ago when I received a bunch of Godiva products which included a facial wash, toner, facial cream, soap, lotion and a roll-on deodorant.
Ang galing lang – natural skin care for the entire body!

Like I told you in previous posts, I have a whole bunch of freckles which kept re-appearing, no matter how much sun block I use. I have undergone an intense Obagi Nu-derm regimen and it did clear up my skin, but because of the possible dangers of hydroquinone, I stopped. Which led me to my search for affordable non-hydroquinone
pigment control products.
pigment control products.
Godiva Natural Skincare uses only purified licorice root extract scientifically called Glycyrrhiza glabra which has the highest glabridin content.
What does Glabridin do?
It whitens the skin by suppressing the formation of that pigment called melanin that gives color to the skin. It is the safest, most effective pigment control product that even pregnant women and breastfeeding moms can use!
So, did the new Godiva Natural Skin Care Products live up to its promise of whiter skin?
It did. Gently. I didn’t even notice that my skin was lightening until somebody told me!
In my quest for a fairer, smoother, less sensitive skin, I have tried and endured different kinds of products like facial regimens which burned and peeled my face, collagen powder drinks, and IV glutathione and Vitamin C.
All of which burned a major hole in my purse.
It was quite a joy to find out that products with the same effectiveness are available at a much affordable price.
The Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Facial System which includes the Godiva Licowhite Whitening Facial Wash (SRP P85.00), Godiva Licowhite Whitening Facial Toner (SRP P89.00) and Godiva Licowhite Whitening Facial Cream (SRP P120.00) is an effective regimen that works synergistically to brighten and even out skin discolorations caused by age, scarring, pregnancy or overexposure to the sun.
Its good points:
- I had no problems with rashes or any atopic dermatitis flares,
which means that these products are hypoallergenic as well.(Clinical trials
showed no incidence of irritation, allergy or redness) - I tend to equate
whitening products with peeling, redness and dryness, but these products left my
skin soft and smooth with no irritation and redness, with lighter spots. - My skin looks brighter and I am keeping my fingers crossed
that continued use would make me fairer.

Above are pixes of me with those ink blotches. (Enlarge and connect the spots lol) |
Its bad points:
None.I was wondering if the product included a sunblock cream though…
The Godiva Body Care includes the LicoWhite Whitening Soap (135 g at P69.00 and 65 g at P35.00), Godiva Licowhite Whitening Lotion with SPF 15 (P132.00) and Godiva Licowhite Whitening Anti-Perspirant Deodorant
(P89.00).
(P89.00).
I haven’t noticed the whitening as much as I did on my face.
Here’s why. I have worked on field for years and my face is waaay darker than my body. I love how the soap and lotion moisturizes the skin though. And oh, I will report later if it cleared up the freckles on my arms (I told you, they are all over!).
Now, about the anti-perspirant deodorant.
Who would not like a whiter kili-kili?
Hormones, chafing, and deodorants do make the skin over the armpits look dark. I swear I would like to use sleeveless clothes and wave my arms up like crazy, but I can’t! I have noticed a little skin lightening over there, and hopefully, with continued use, glabridin will keep up to its promise of whiter, creamier skin over the pits.
Safety and Effectiveness Meter:
Godiva has lightened up my freckles, which means that Godiva lives up to its claim of clearing up pimple scars, freckles, age spots and melasma because of licorice which is “ten times more powerful than Vitamin C, sixteen times more effective than hydroquinone and thirty times more active than melawhite and kojic acid.”
Licorice has been used for centuries as food additive and flavoring making it safe even for pregnant and nursing women.
You can shop (and hoard, which I plan to do!) for these wonderful and affordable products by going over to Godiva Natural Skin Care Facebook page which can be found here.
