Watching Annabelle Creation (not that I love scary movies. Just that the kids love it) just made me realize that Halloween is just around the corner! About time to decorate for Halloween! Here are affordable outdoor Halloween decoration ideas that are not too scary, but just perfect for the fall season.
Affordable Outdoor Halloween Decoration Idea 1: Create a Pumpkin Fairy Garden
Kids just love fairy gardens! How about using a pumpkin for a fairy garden instead of a large bowl or pot?
In a hurry?>>>>+ Check out these boo-tiful pumkin fairy garden accessories here!
Here is how minigardener.wordpress.com did her mini pumpkin fairy garden:
And here is how you can do your Halloween Fairy Garden:
Materials Needed:
- Look for the largest plastic or ceramic pumpkin. (Since real pumpkins can go bad.)
- Potting soil – I use this one from Espoma, peat moss, and perlite
- Small stones and pebbles – You will love these glow-in-the-dark pebbles! Perfect for Halloween!
- Halloween fairy garden accessories
- Glue, spray paint, water mister.
Make sure your container is clean and, this is very important, make sure your container has drainage holes to drain excess water away. Otherwise, your plant’s roots are going to rot.
Mix the Espoma Potting Mix , peat moss and perlite.
Fill your container and water it a little bit. Cover the top with your glow-in-the-dark pebbles. Aside from making your Halloween Fairy Garden glow in the dark, the pebbles also help to prevent evaporation of water from the top soil.
Plant some succulents and then get into your creative Halloween spirit by dressing a fairy figurine in her little witch clothing, then add some small pumpkins to create a little pumpkin patch.

I also love this Lighted Fully-Furnished Fairy Dream House which is great for Halloween indoor decoration which you can get from HearthSong.

Affordable Outdoor Halloween Decoration Idea #2: Place Ghosts in the Front Yard
Of course, I would not love Annabelle to be in my front yard!
I am thinking of something more in Casper’s line:
There are a few different options for making ghosts you can put in your front yard. The first option is to get wire and create forms with it. This is more of a creative challenge, so maybe the kids can help as well. You just want a simple wire form of a body. You can then put a large white dress on the form, such as one you find at a thrift store, or any type of white fabric. It makes it look like ghosts are just floating.
An easier way is to simply get plastic pumpkins and attach them to stakes in the yard. Cover the entire thing with an old white sheet, and your ghost is done.
Of course, if you would like your yard to look fancy (I mean, spooky) at night, you can find these affordable Halloween decorations from HearthSong:

Affordable Outdoor Halloween Decoration Idea #3: Make Yard Signs
Another fun way to decorate your yard for Halloween is by making yard signs. These should be the names of different Halloween or spooky places with arrow-shaped signs, as if they are showing where these spooky places are. Have things like ‘Halloween Town’, ‘Bates Motel’, ‘Transylvania’ , ‘Elm Street‘, and anywhere else you and your kids want to make signs for. Stick them on stakes in your yard or attach them to a large tree in front of your house.
Affordable Outdoor Halloween Decoration Idea #4: Spiders,Critters,Skeletons!
Use a white spring and weave a spider web. Put a scary spider toy and some other critters.
These long-legged light up red glow spiders are creepy!
What about these monster hands?
This one is cute! A 3-D Unicorn Pumpkin!
And more cute stuff!
And what about this foam halloween pumplin?
Affordable Outdoor Halloween Decoration Idea #5: Put Witch Brooms On Your Porch
For porch decorations, you can make witch brooms if you are unable to find good ones at local Halloween supply stores.
This is really easy to do. You just need an old broom, since the handle and the bottom of the broom is already done. To make it look like a witch broom, get a bunch of straw and use it to cover the bottom of the broom so that it looks like the bottom of a witch broom. This is easy to do and keeps your original broom intact!
