What’s a good mother?
One who’s loving, loved, gives her children what they need? Does it matter if she stays at home or goes to work, is married or not? Is in her 20s or beyond 40? If her kids are happy? If she is happy?
Women wrestle with society’s – and their own ideals of motherhood. What she discovered: The answers to the question of what makes a good mom are loaded with almost as many opinions and judgment as there are mothers. I found that there’s no absolute definition of the perfect mother. But trying to set my own goals for what I want to be as a mom has helped put the ideal of perfection into perspective.
Have you struggled with these issues?
Do you think it’s tougher these days for mother to measure up?
What makes you feel most like a good mom?
What is the one thing you’d most like to change about yourself as a mother?
I would love to hear your thoughts!!!
Hello Mommy! I feel so unperfect whenever I'm away from my son – whether it's for work or just meeting out with my friends. I feel so guilty when I go somewhere else without him, it's like I owe him much time. But for working, it's also for him anyway, so I just think of that way. How I wish I can bring him at work! Guess there's no perfect equation on being a perfect mom – or parent perhaps. 🙂
I wrote a similar post a few months back, and in my opinion, comparison is the root of all of these insecurities. Even if we do everything we can to raise good kids, if we make the mistake of looking at how the neighbors raise theirs, we will never feel good enough! I believe it's tougher nowadays to measure up kasi lahat naka-broadcast on blogs, Facebook, etcetera! 😀
A good mother is one who does her best given her situation, it does not have to be the same thing that others are doing. I don't think there is a right or wrong way to it. 🙂
What I'd like to change about myself? I'd like to have more patience. 🙂
I always put my kids first before mine. I always make sure that I'm always there for them and helped to achieved their dreams in life.Sometimes its tough being a Mom but having my kids and a supportive hubby makes it little easier and fun.:)
