Your toddler is growing up and is getting too old for his crib.
It is time to get him his own grown-up bed.
Choosing a new bed may seem very easy, but most parents are usually at a loss when choosing a bed for their little ones. Decades ago, beds used to look plain, made of wood, with a mattress and a warm blanket. It sure does serve its purpose – that is, a place to sleep and relax.
These days, however, beds break out of the traditional mode and now come in various stylish and functional designs perfect for your lifestyle, preference and space considerations. Shopping for your kid’s bed would seem dizzying as beds with different designs face you in the furniture store, giving you a hard time in choosing that perfect bed.
One of the most popular choices for children is the bunk bed. Bunk and loft beds are marvelous space savers in children’s bedrooms. Moms and dads prefer getting a bunk bed because of its function and limitless capabilities for storage, studying and space for relaxing.
Some types of bunk beds you can find in a furniture store are the following:
Standard bunk beds
These are the regular bunk beds wherein the beds are stacked over each other.
Loft bed
A loft bed has a bunk only at the top, leaving the bottom bare for more space for a study table, desk and other bed furniture.
L-shaped bunk bed
An L-Shaped bunk bed would seem luxurious to a child. This bunk bed shaped like the letter “L” can fuel a child’s imagination by turning his bed into a fortress.
My brother did this when he was younger.
He would don capes, and swing his play sword to enemies who tries to get in his fortress (which included me and my stuffed toys). I think this would be the most functional of all bunk beds because you can have built-in cabinets, study desk, shelves where
your child can put his books, favorite arts and craft masterpiece and Lego sets.

When shopping for beds, always think of your child’s safety. Make sure that the bunk beds come with non-skid ladders, safety rails, head boards and foot boards. Check that the rails are sturdy.
The mattress should be a perfect fit for the bed. Mattress Matchers has various reviews that will help you find what you are looking for.
The ladder should be non-skid and sturdy. It should not be used as a place to put toys and clothes, andthere should be no corner post on the
head or foot board to prevent a child from being strangled accidentally by clothes that a child may be wearing when he goes down the upper bed.

Thank you for the tips.. Soon we'll be getting a bed for our toddler.
I would still go for the standard bed!… but for a long time, we wanted the baby between us because we had to make the most of the little time we had with him!
