This is practically a relic! Before there were e-book readers, i-Pads, tablets, in the Jurassic era of the ’70s, we had this! Mine was blue. Actually, it was my brother’s, because back then, my uncle preferred to give me a Malibu Barbie instead of this! But, since girls grow faster than boys (until they catch up and grow faster when they turn around sixteen), I would grab this from my brother. He is much much taller now, but I bet he will remember how I tried to get this from him and watch stills of Adam West in Batman!
And oh, this is called View-Master. Mine (my brother’s, actually) was battery-operated (there was a tiny bulb like that of the flashlight’s that would turn on), and if the double-A batteries wouldn’t work anymore (even after I let them bake under the sun!), I would remove the back cover, go out (in the daylight of course. Nighttime and you wouldn’t see anything!) and view stills.
Did you own a View Master way (waaaaaayyyy) back then?
Yes, me and my brother had a view master too! I feel very nostalgic now.lol Our view masters weren't even battery operated. Though it felt really amazing to see those cartoons in the view master.heheh
Tuwang tuwa na tayo even if there were no sounds ano?
Yes! I remember in the 90s when my uncle went to Makkah for pilgrimage, and came back with one of those- it had snapshots of each of the steps of the pilgrimage. They're fun!
Yup, I remembering seeing these in the 90s. They were a lot smaller than what we had, though ๐ .Did you also own the pixel chix?
I also had a blue one when I was a kid! Before that, there was this older, more jurassic version…a black one that somebody lent to us. But I loved watching the fairy tales then. I believe they are still on sale until the 90's nga.
Sadly, Aileen, what we had before are the old Batman tv series and a bunch of Nat Geo pixes. So I had to watch them over and over again.
I remember this! Although I didn't own one but I had a chance to play with it with a cousin. These were really cool stuff back then just like the brick game. haha! No relation lang. Nkktuwa lang isipin mga panahon na yun. ๐
I also had the brick game and oh, the game and watch. Did you have them? Plus, the tamagochi. Haha, missed those toys
Yes!!! I sure did have a view master and a whole bunch of reels to keep me occupied for hours. I loved my view master. When I was little we went to Disney and my folks got me view master reels from there. Just loved them!!

That was cool!I only had a few view master reels but it kept me entertained for hours too. I hope I can find my old one and show them to my kids. I wonder what there reaction will be!
Yay! I honestly I don't know what that thing is that..hahahaha…Rosemarie/Gven-Rose
Prettymom, you must be very young haha.
Yes I did! Wow I don't know where mine got to. Too much moving around.
I had a grade school classmate who lost it in school, and the directress (Sr. Lilia) told her to learn her lesson from it.
Yes, I did and I made sure my daughters did also. I still think they're pretty cool! Reia
Yup, they are so simple and so cool!
we have this one before, but i did not know that it is called view master.
Now you do lol.
I think I'm too young to know this thing (no offense meant!), but it surely looks cool! ๐
They were sold for a while in the 90s. They were a lot smaller. I remember my daughter having it in a goody bag (this is like around 2004), with Toy Story reels ๐
yes i do, hahaha same as the photo! it's one of my fave toys when i was young.. ๐
No but this reminded me of my childhood days when we would crowd around my cousin who owns one and patiently wait for our turn to view the photos.
When we were kids, they were fascinating , right? What would kids now think about them though?
I wish, like Maan Laxa, I could say that I was too young. Well, I could I suppose but it wouldn't be true. I had this toy when I was a kid, and I'm not sure why I loved it so much. when I think about it, it was kind of a boring toy, but maybe I compare it with the stuff they have out today – you know the stuff that makes all the noise, talks, sings, does your math…
This post certainly does bring back the memories though.
Oh yes, I have those, too. Mine is I think even more vintage than this. Ha ha… thanks for sharing this, you gave me a new post material. ๐ Watch out for it!
Okay sis will wait for it!!!
I never got a chance to have such toys. I think that time it was really expensive. One of my classmate have this toy.
