We have a week and it’s Christmas!
It should be the most wonderful time of the year, right?
But when your kids are down with cold and flu, it sure is not fun…
Giving your child enough nutrients throughout the day will not only help your child to prevent getting cold and flu by boosting her immune system. It will also help them to heal.
And when it comes to vitamins and minerals, the following are the rock stars :
Zinc
When your child’s immune system is down with the cold or flu, you need to make sure that she is getting her vitamins and minerals. This is not always easy because she may not be hungry, irritable, has nausea, or is vomiting.
If this is the case, try to give her additional supplements to let her get the nutrients she needs for her body to heal.
To start with, one of our cold and flu vitamin and mineral rock star is zinc. Zinc is great for many illnesses and for general health, but it especially unleashes its power when you have a cold.
And if your child is having sore throat as an effect of cold or flu, aside from Pei Pa Koa which I swear cured my voice, you can give her lozenges with zinc.
Vitamin D
Chest or head cold is a pain, right? Especially if your child has it. I have often wished to have the chest or head cold and not my poor child. But did you know that Vitamin D is very important in improving your child’s ability to fight cold and flu?
If you are outdoors most of the time, you probably already get enough vitamin D since the most natural source of Vitamin D is the sun’s UV rays.
However, when your child is sick, she does not get to spend time outdoors right? And you probably would not let her go out during cold and flu season when days are colder and without a lot of sunshine.
For this reason, you should focus on letting her get more Vitamin D in other ways. She can take a supplement, a multi-vitamin, or she can get it from food sources like:
- yogurt
- cheese
- milk
- tofu
- fortified cereal
Vitamin C
Treating a cold and getting more vitamin C seem to go hand-in-hand.
A lot of over-the-counter treatments boast about having vitamin C, because this is one of the best nutrients for your immune system. With a stronger immune system, you are able to prevent illnesses like cold and flu.
You can also treat your child’s cold with Vitamin C even if she already has it. Getting more Vitamin C into her body can help reduce how long she has the cold, and keep it from worsening.
Some natural sources of Vitamin C are:
- citrus fruits
- veggies like broccoli and Brussels sprouts
- juice without added sugar
Fern-C Kidz – My Child’s Holiday Health Buddy!
The only immunity booster I love and trust is FERN-C kidz.
Why?
Because I have been taking FERN-C for years and it made me healthy during the cold Baguio seasons!
Here are my reasons why I love FERN-C kidz:
Fern-C is worlds apart from ordinary Vitamin C.
We have always thought Vitamin C is Ascorbic Acid, right?
Yes, it’s true. Most Vitamin C’s are ascorbic acid.
However, Fern C Kids is Sodium Ascorbate.
What does this mean?
Like the original Fern-C for adults, Fern-C Kidz is not acidic. Our kids’ sensitive tummies are protected. Aside from that, every bottle of FERN-C kidz has the Quali-C seal. This is the seal which is given to Vitamin C products that are made of the highest quality ingredients.
Fern-C Kidz is also formulated with Zinc.
Like I told you, Zinc is one of the rock stars when you are trying to boost your immune system. This means that Fern-C Kidz with add-on zinc gives extra protection to your child.
It doesn’t taste like you’ve been hit by a truck.
That’s how my boy describes the taste of every medicine and vitamin supplement I give him. Fern-C Kidz amazingly has a yummy orange flavor which he claims is okay with him.
