For most dads, baseball is an obsession. It might probably have started when they
started playing baseball with the neighborhood kids. They have a wide collection of baseball cards
which they trade and buy – no matter how much the price, know every single
player in the league, can recite stats from every major game, they probably won’t
want to miss any single game and they would love to pass on baseball love to
their children as a legacy as well. In
fact, it is so easy to spot dads who are
big baseball fans. Their babies are showing their baseball love by wearing Red Sox baby clothes! And once the children
are old enough, taking the children to a baseball game is a must, like some
sort of rite of passage.

Of course, kids will be kids and moms like me would insist
that there are millions of reasons why
you should totally avoid going to a baseball game – like the cost and endless
requests to take them to the bathroom in the middle of the game, but if dad is
so excited to take the kids to their first major baseball event, here are a few
things you should be mindful of:

requests to take them to the bathroom in the middle of the game, but if dad is
so excited to take the kids to their first major baseball event, here are a few
things you should be mindful of:
- Prepare your child for the game. Try watching a couple of baseball games for
kids. Read books about baseball. Or dad can take him to a baseball game in the
neighborhood. - Buy your child his very own team cap and jersey.
- Let dad talk about his favorite player and let
your child get excited into watching him in action. - Your child may be restless in his seat. Make sure you bring snacks and small toys to
keep them entertained. - The weather can be unpredictable. It can get windy on a warm day so don’t
forget to bring an extra hoodie or jacket.
If this sport will interest my son in the future, I will surely support him all the way. And will always remember your tips.. hehehe

We only have simple school games here in Zamboanga City so I guess this is really not an issue for us! BUT, when Joko was 13 years old, we went to the US and I felt he was just the right age to watch one real NBA game and one Baseball game! The two games were also a learning experience for me, but I also didn't have problems with him because he was a big boy then.
I've watched some baseball games during college. Well it was because our PE class required us to go the school's varsity baseball team game. I guess it's not the kind of sport that I really like, it's quite slow paced.
Cool tips! Yeah, when you take your child to a ball game, we would always bring lots of food. If we are not allowed to bring in food, prepare some hefty budget for the food sold inside. Kids are always super hungry during these times. Ha ha!
When my kid was small, he just joined school games so that was simple. However, it was only when he was 13 that I gave him the chance to watch one NBA basketball game and one baseball game in Boston for the play-offs… but at that age, he was already independent for his age.
I am not a baseball enthusiast not because hindi ito uso sa atin but I am not a sporty person. hehehe. But I do love watching baseball in our school intramurals during my highschool and college days. Coach kasi ung teacher namin that time. required ang attendance. hehehe
