I grew up in the cool 80’s. MTV played “Video killed the Radio Star” and totally revolutionized the way I listened (err, watched) to music. Cyndi Lauper and Madonna were big stars (back then, plump was cute, too), and heck, I dressed like them. I wanted to look like them. I wanted to be a totally, for sure Valley Girl! I wanted big pink hair, bleached with peroxide, which my mom and my ultra-conservative school would of course not allow, explosive clothing, and I wanted “excessories”!!! Compact discs are still to be discovered. Cable TV had only 20 channels. And blogging was completely unheard of.
Hi Vanessa,
I still listen to 80's music and it brings back those good old memories. Very interesting post. I'll be looking forward for your upcoming posts.

Hi Marie!
I kept diaries most of my life too. I still have the one from when I was thirteen, one when I was fifteen (written in shorthand) and my college diaries. I keep them on and off. Just remembered, I have to go and write an entry in my new diary – I call it the prayer journal. It's inspired by one of the characters in The Help, a maid who wrote her prayers at night instead of saying them. Happy blogging!
