Have you ever gone through those last four weeks
of the semester promising yourself that you will ace your exam by hitting the
books every single night (no Facebook! No Instagram!, Seryoso! And no cramming
involved, too !)?

work??
… Well, in my case, it was difficult! (And having the constant urge to check out my
Facebook and Instagram did not help.At.All.)
(Mom:There’s a name for that. FOMO. The Fear of
Missing Out. And good thing you don’t really like teleseryes, too, or you will end
up studying the whole night.)
exams to be cancelled!
student’s life. This is when you
dedicate yourself to studying to get a good grade in every subject. I would know how it feels! I have been through it one too many
times.
And the worst finals week
I had was this March. Throughout the
finals week, I did my best to stay up all night and study. It was somewhat the worst moments I’ve been
through.
not sleeping before or after reviewing is true- it did lessen my thinking
capabilities and I almost didn’t remember anything.
my mom and saying sorry because I had the feeling that I might fail the dreaded
Physics subject. ( Although, thank The Lord, I passed! And I was given an
unexpected high grade!)
Finals week is REALLY toxic. (Emphasis on really.) But here are sure-fire tips from moi on how to
survive your finals week:
1. SLEEP WELL
You had classes for
months. Don’t ever attempt to cram all
those information in one night, because the bad news is – it won’t work. I have done my share of not sleeping before
the exams, and it made my mind go gaga –
literally. I felt like I had a huge
hangover (I’m kidding. I don’t really
know what hangover feels like!). The
best thing to do is to be well-prepared by studying waay before finals
week.
My mom is a big fan of mnemonics (The first ones
she taught me was ROYGBIV for the colors of the rainbow and My Very Eager
Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas for the planets – this was before Pluto was
downgraded to a dwarf planet).
out for me. I just highlighted the crap out of my book in my high school days
and it somehow worked. When I entered
college though, this was my weapon of choice in remembering medical terms like
Some Lovers Try Positions That They Can’t Handle for remembering the carpal
bones. I know it sounds nasty, but it makes me remember S for scaphoid. L for
lunate. T for triquetrium. T for trapezoid. C for capitate. And lastly H for
hamate.
3. ASK QUESTIONS AND HAVE GROUP REVIEWS.
awkward person, I tend to shy away from group reviews. But recently, I found
the guts to actually ask help from my block mates (and even my instructors) when I review. I
even tutored them sometimes. It would be better to share your knowledge than to
keep it to yourself, right?
4. LIMIT DRINKING OF COFFEE.
choice. Whenever cramming is involved, I
drink 2 to 3 iced coffees a night! But they aren’t effective anyway. Caffeine
dulls my mind and makes me so jumpy. So
I suggest, my fellow students, that you cut off drinking coffee, and well,
stick to the pure, basic and plain ol’ water. It keeps me awake better than
coffee.
5. MUSIC
concentrate (when music is slow and not that distracting of course,) but it also
drowns out the noisy convos and loud voices of blockmates or friends who have
no plan of reviewing. Plus, it gives you that extra push to review. Like, when
an upbeat song is up, you just feel the music and say, I have to review! I can
do this!
don’t ever look like it! I may have
eyebags as big as my backpack…
and smell fresh with Pure ‘N Fresh colognes!
can greatly affect your mood, and Pure ‘N Fresh’s Tropical Splash and Tangerine
Delight never fail to make me feel fresh, confident and ready to take the world
(err, ready to ace my exam!).
first step to freshness!
And since my mom told me
that Unilab, the company behind Pure ‘N
Fresh Colognes and FeminineWash, has been around since my grandparents’ time developing wonderful
products and medicines, I can be sure that I am using quality products at a
good price (I don’t have to ask mom for extra cash to buy it. It is soo sulit, believe me!).
about breaking out into rashes or something.
I have the world’s most sensitive skin and Pure ‘N Fresh Colognes which
were tested by dermatologists and hypo-allergenic never irritated my mild and
sensitive skin.
Splash smells so sweet, with a scent that reminds me of peaches and
apples. My personal favorite is Pure ‘N
Fresh Tangerine Delight. It smells citrusy,
which makes me feel energetic, alert and fresh all day long (I think it makes
me remember everything I studied!). I
spritz it every time. It just smells soo
good!
And by the way, I have been dreaming about this for days na…

I never liked finals in HS, college can't be any better.. good luck on yours!
She kept me smiling. I love the graphics, especially "May the Grades Be Ever in Your Favor." I love the Hunger Games as much as my teenagers. She has some good advice for studying too.
Pretty! I like this post. Makes me nostalgic for college exams – not! Hehehe kidding aside, I'm glad you survived your finals week well. I like using acronyms to memorize, too! I think it's called mnemonics. 🙂
Hi, Ate! You are right nga, it is called mnemonics hehe. I changed the acronym to mnemonics. thanks a lot!
Oh my gosh, finals week was so stressful for my son and I also, but I'm so happy that our hard work paid off. His report card shows straight A's! 😀
When I was a student, I hated it when the teacher don't show up for the test I have studied the whole night lol.
PS. Tell your MOm, happy mother's day for me!
