When I was younger (and smaller), I loved going to slumber parties. I loved the pillow fights, late night orders
of pizza, movie marathons, braiding each other’s hair, trying on make-up…It was
a blast!

But now that I am older (and a parent), I dread my girls’
slumber parties, especially if I am hosting them!

If you are a mom about to host your little girl’s slumber party,
here are a few tips to survive your little girl’s first ever sleepover:
here are a few tips to survive your little girl’s first ever sleepover:
Staying
over for a sleepover doesn’t necessarily mean spending time indoors, for the
early evening, of course. If you have a
large lawn or a park nearby, you can let the girls spend some time there as
they run around, chat and giggle, watch the people pass by, get silly together.

If you plan to take the girls
outdoors, be sure that the girls’ parents are informed.

Have a list of the names of the girls’ parents,
their home address, home phone numbers
and cell phone numbers.

Prepare foods that are easy to cook. You can prepare grilled hotdogs, pizza,
popcorn, burgers, and nuts. Have a list
of the girls’ favorite easy-to-prepare food and be aware of any food allergy
that a child may have so that you can prepare food that everyone will enjoy.

Have a theme for the party. Girls love dressing up like their favorite Disney
movie characters. It would be really cute if the girls bring their favorite
dolls and wear matching girl doll clothes.

Prepare the girls’ sleeping area where family
members won’t be disturbed with girls’ giggles and shrieks. Be sure you can still keep a close eye on
what they are doing though. The den is
ideal since it is bigger and wider than your daughter’s bedroom.
