I was late at the blogosphere party! Before I started this blog in August 2012, I
was totally clueless.
was totally clueless.
Before I became a serious (?)blogger on that fateful day of
August, I had maybe around four neglected blogspot blogs, plus a personal
memoir blog with Live Journal and WordPress, with an average of only two or three
posts, a year.

I wanted to blog. I
really do. I just don’t have time
(Ha!). Until I did get serious and so,
this mommy blog was born, with its blogspot url as thelumpyspaceprincess.blogspot.com.

(Ha!). Until I did get serious and so,
this mommy blog was born, with its blogspot url as thelumpyspaceprincess.blogspot.com.
It took me a month to realize that for readers and “me” to take me
seriously, I should drop the Lumpy Space Princess name (besides, it was a name
of an Adventure Time Cartoon Network character. They
might slap me with some legal thing later), and so, I decided to get my own
custom domain. I wanted
to be a part of the blogosphere, the world wide web. I want to have a piece of
it, so I got my own dot com.

Unfortunately, I got my custom domain when Blogger was having
problems. My site was getting the Error 404. I have to wait for around two
weeks, while constantly complaining at the Blogger forum (where fellow bloggers
like me who got their own dot com cannot go live because even the blogspot
re-direct won’t work) because there was no customer service for Blogger.

Eventually, everything did get fixed. All was well.
But what if I told you that you can launch your own brand, your
own website, complete with a mobile version and a custom domain name, even if
you are clueless and have zero technical knowledge, in 60 seconds?

Infinite.ly, proudly a Philippine startup, has recently launched
this service which will make you have your own professional website, complete
with custom domain name, hosting and website maintenance, with 50 MB storage for only Php 1,600.00
per year for the Small Biz Plan.

Setting up is easy. First you need to pick a name for your site
under the infinite.ly subdomain. Yup, you can try how it works first before it
asks you to register or make a purchase.

The system checks if your brand name is available and if it is,
that little rocket would launch your new site/page.

You will be asked what type of page you would like to build.
Infinite.ly has templates available depending on the kind of website you want
to build (Blogger/Business/Event/Freeform).
Since I am such a non-techie, I chose Blogger (although I was wishing I
had a business. This would be perfect to
build and promote your brand!).

Now, do the countdown! In just sixty seconds flat, you can visit

Moments later, your dot com site is LIVE!
You can claim your page for free, or upgrade to a premium

For somebody technically-challenged like me (which I
over-emphasized in the paragraphs above), building my page is so easy. Infinite.ly has a drag and drop and a user
friendly interface. Adding your brand
image is easy, too. Just drag, choose where
you want to put it, crop it, make it pretty.

And with a “Tips” section, you can’t go wrong…
It also comes complete with a mobile version and a custom
facebook page tab. The custom facebook
page tab is very helpful, especially if you want to build your brand.

You can have access to all the widgets to customize your
page. Again, everything is so easy a ten year old can do it.

As you can see, I can be easily pleased and I am in awe with how
easy it is to build your own site. In sixty seconds flat, nonetheless.

The Small Biz Plan would be perfect if you are launching or
promoting your own brand or business. The design possibilities, with the
numerous widgets, are boundless. Besides, I would trust a seller more if he has
a professional looking site with his own dot com!If you are a blogger like me,
however, I think there are cheaper alternatives to getting your own hosting and
custom domain. But, with all the customizations and widgets available, getting it would be sulit, especially since you won’t need to hire somebody to design your page at all. You can do everything on your own.

My Infinite.ly blog is still a work in progress. But I am loving
trying my hands at designing it. You can
get a feel of the service by heading to their site. Go ahead.

Same here Marie! When I started, I thought blogging is just like having an online diary. I really didn't know that there's a lot going on behind the scene! I'm so glad that my husband did all the techie stuff for me, like getting my own domain. Infinite.ly seems interesting, we'll check it out.
