Though money can’t buy you love, it sure makes life
better. However, with all the bills you
need to pay and the stuff you just have to get (your kikay kit arsenal and
wardrobe), you’re often left with just about enough until the next sweldo.

Ideally, we all want to earn an amount that won’t just cover
basic needs but will also help us attain financial independence and a measure
of security. ‘Yung tipong you won’t
keep worrying about making ends meet because you have savings as well as some
amount to spare for luxuries like trying out that classy restaurant and your “it’s
more fun in the Philippines” trips.

But with a ang-hirap-ng-buhay-ngayon economy and the
ever-increasing prices of everything, who has extra cash to save for the gipit
days and the future?

“I don’t have time to study about growing my money.”
“I don’t have enough money.”
“I will let my husband handle it.”
It is high time that we should stop behaving like money
management is for guys or those
accountant nerds (don’t look at me hehe).
You don’t even have to be a super-kuripot manang or a business tycoon to
be able to save and make your money grow.

Knowing how to manage and grow your money is just as
important as earning it. It is upon you,
and no one else, to learn and develop skills to effectively manage your money.

Money Makeover
Don’t aim for a mukhang-pera-ka-na makeover. Taking charge of your finances do go beyond
financial rewards. It actually boosts
your self-esteem and makes you feel responsible. Efficient financial management can make a lot
of difference in your life.

BITS OF TIPS TO START YOUR JOURNEY TO FINANCIAL
INDEPENDENCE:
INDEPENDENCE:
IT’S WHAT YOU DON’T
KNOW THAT CAN HURT YOU.
KNOW THAT CAN HURT YOU.
Take note of your earnings and expenses and be super oc-oc
about it. Make a list, write them down
(might as well be talking to myself because I sure hate writing things down). Don’t accept your pay slip as it is. Find out how much goes to SSS, Pag-IBIG, or
your withholding taxes. Take note of ATMcharges or those cellphone loads.

THE BEST WAY TO GET RICH QUICK IS TO GET RICH SLOW.
Be aware of get-rich-quick scams. If it sounds too good to be true, it is
high-risk! Return of investments does not happen overnight. You really have to wait to see your money
grow and multiply.

REDUCE YOUR EXPENSES AND INCREASE YOUR INCOME.
Choose a lifestyle that you can afford. Don’t live like you are a million bucks when
you keep on charging through your credit cards.
Even if you can afford to waste P5,000.00 without your wallet hurting,
why should you? That P5,000.00 could be easily invested at the stock market.

A year ago, I don’t know a thing about the stock
market. I was into growing my kikay
arsenal, believe it or not. I was so
into anti-aging (after all, 40 nga daw is the new 30) I was buying collagen
powder, glutathione, Obagi Nu-derm and I have a galvanic spa. Now, I am investing in the Stock Market! Miracles do happen!

Nice tips here, Marie. I do keep a budget sheet every month so to keep track of all ins and outs of our money. It requires time to keep up but I feel We are able to manage our expenses more efficiently that way. I might look into going in stocks market as you suggest.
I have been wanting to do this for a long time.
