I just want to let you know that all opinions are my own and I may earn from qualifying purchases. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Enjoy and feel free to share with your friends!

When you’re buying a computer, an air conditioner, a refrigerator, or any other appliance, salespersons sweet-talk you into getting a two-year extended warranty “for added protection and peace of mind.” But the thing is,YOU MAY NOT NEED IT FOR YOUR APPLIANCE AFTER ALL .  If the appliance is still in good shape a year after purchase, then you can rely on it to perform well for a very long time. And even if something bad does happen, repairs are usually affordable.  Just get an extended warranty for laptop computers or latest TVs, though.  Laptops break down easily, due to its sensitive parts and the latest TVS are fairly new so the cost for repairs is still high.

So, if that sales person try to talk you into getting that extended warranty, stand your ground and JUST SAY NO.

Agree. Additional charge for extended warranty costs more than the repair sometimes.

I didn't realize it's the trend now! Perhaps buying reliable household brands is one way of saving money for supposedly the extended warranty.

Usually expensive item already have warranty on it and extended warranty is not really necessary just an extra cost. I agree with Marie, just say NO:)

Does the extended warranty have additional payment? I haven't heard of this before!

I think twice about getting extended warrantee for my products as through most of the time you may not need it.

I can relate to this one. I only replace gadgets when they are broken. Much as I would love to own those cool LED TVs, my old bulky ones still work.

Ditto with Marie. It's only an added expense without serving its purpose.

When we pruchased our ref, we avail of the extended warranty since it will only cost about 100pesos will be added to the monthly amortization per month kaya hindi naman mabigat sa budget. hehehe.
I think in our next purchase, we will use your advise.

They depreciate over time, anyway. Therefore, I say nay.

We never buy those extended warranty coz oftentimes you don't really use ' 'em.

I haven't tried buying any piece of appliance with extended warranties, but I sure agree with you that it's unnecessary! Baka lugi ka pa kasi after 1 year, super nag-depreciate na ang presyo.

We paid for extended warranty for the ref we have purchased more than a year ago. Natakot kasi kami sis kasi the first time we purchased a ref after a year nasira e tapos na warranty sa service. Mas mahal pa bayad sa service kesa sa parts nya then nasira lang so we opt for extended warranty. Pero mukhang problem lang din yung sa service center at sa brand.
