I don’t think you could call me a gadget geek.
Especially if you see my cellphone.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Chat, which used to be my daughter’s, which retails for like around P2,000.00. I used to have a Sony Ericsson C905 (which has a really good camera, too) before its keyboard conked on me.
I included a link just in case you want to see how ancient my current phone looks like (at least, it does not have an antenna hehe and it fell like a million times and it is still working).
In fact, this phone is usually in silent mode (I just keep it in my pocket to feel its buzz), because it is embarrassing to bring it out especially in seminars where everybody is bored and tinkering with iPhones and tablets (and oh, another thing. I always bring my Kindle Keyboard and an office mate said, “Ayy, it has a keyboard and it is in black and white? What is that, Ate*?” I am so tempted to say, “Malaking blackberry.” **)
But, it does serve its purpose. I can text and I can make and receive calls. That was how a phone was decades ago anyway. And I can surf using Opera Mini (it does have its WiFi naman).
But, just in case I get extra funds (which is a remote possibility because I have a future agenda now), can you help me decide between a Samsung Galaxy and an Apple iPhone please?
Allison Morris sent me this infographic. I want to hear your thoughts!

I am considering the iPhone, though, or should I just get an iPad Mini and keep my old Samsung because it still works anyway?
Or should I just forget these gadgets and invest in stocks instead :)?

**Malaking Blackberry-Big Blackberry
Invest in stocks lol! When it comes to choosing between these two, I'd go for Samsung. Just a brand preference and partly because mas close at heart, being a fellow Asian. Not to mention the Android market (if you're an app geek). Mas madami freebie apps sa Android, if I'm not mistaken. I couldn't be very sure because I have never used an Apple brand.
Natawa ko dun sa malaking Blackberry hahaha! Priceless.
Oo nga ano sis. And Apple has become so mainstream lately parang it wont be virus-free forever? (geez, i dont even know what I am talking about haha). My daughter has an iPad and all i know is I kept getting charges at iTunes even if she didn't use it and I had to call Citibank to disallow any iTunes purchase.
Yaiks! Wala man lang confirmation? Charge agad? Hmmmm. Hangga't may free ang android, ubusin ko muna lahat ng freebies before I start buying lol!
my view is biased. i've been an apple fangirl since 2005. hihi…
Ability wise, Samsung is better. But Apple is Apple.
Nice infographics on the comparison between the two. I think samsung is okay naman. One of their vision is to produce cheaper products but with best quality.
Samsung for me ๐ Mas user friendly kasi saka madali lang mag install ng mga aps and sabi nga ni sis Aileen, marami free aps.
Mommy Maye2
i always look for durability…and my vote is apple
I would keep your old phone and buy an ipad mini. Save on batteries if you tinker with it too much. But if you're buying a new phone, I like Apple but I would go with Samsung because it's cheaper and performance-wise, same lang naman. It's cheaper because Samsung makes it's own electronics while Apple outsources theirs to Samsung.
winner yung malaking blackberry! hahaha ๐
im a recent Samsung android phone user… and so far im happy with it naman, wala nga lang yung bagong app ng Apple (instaweather and instaplace ata yun)… but everything else, i think its just the same… i love how my S3 is scratch free… ๐
for Apple you have the name. for Samsung, you have more than the name. I actually want both too! my Korean students always say, in every Korean household, there's always a Samsung phone. Love their own nga daw. That's why they overcame Apple in terms of sales. Besides, I own a Samsung too. ๐
I'd like both but it depends on your preference. I was laughing dun sa ( malaking blacberry) super cute! whatever you decide to get you still get a good product.
i am biased, i love samsung hahaha
Samsung sis because it's from Asia and most of the apps are free. I could be bias too coz I'm using one but I think I'll have that for the longest time coz I'm a contented user ๐
No idea, since the only gadgets in the house are the cellphones with just plain sms, bluetooth and memory card (no wifi) and the desktop.
I would go for the Samsung as having both the battery on an APPLe really dies off very fast.
I like gadgets but I think it's awesome to invest in stocks. Hahaha.
I know haha. I checked the market today and I think its back to a bull run again woohoo!
I can't really compare the two because i have never tried apple. but we have a samsung tab. and like what the saleslady said when we bought it, samsung is much better than apple because they're using the Android operating system which gives you so much more access to apps, most are free apps daw. hmm, invest in stocks na lang kaya! hihi! ๐
My previous phone was even more ancient, Marie! It was a Corby Plus (http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_b3410-2993.php). Wala pang wifi!
Anyway, I suggest you get an Android phone (Cherry Mobile has good but cheap ones!) tapos invest the difference n stocks – or vice versa!
Hi sis! I'm currently an Apple user. BUT, if I would buy a new smartphone, I'd go for Samsung Galaxy. Mas flexible sya compare to Apple. I suppose cheaper too by a few bucks.
I would still go for Apple. Samsung is good man kaya lang almost all the people who bought it, after about a year nagraraklamo sa battery coz it sucks raw. And facetime is clearer than Skype.–I can vouch for that
There is the Samsung S4 now! I had the iPhone which I gave to my son… I now have the HTC OneX which is like the Samsung S3 but came earlier… mmm…if you are not an Apple user, it might be easier with the Samsung…although, I really love my Macbook Pro…this is where there really is no virus!
I'm loyal to iPhone, so I really can't compare the features. Some friends have S3, they said it's better. ๐ Based on the looks, for me, iPhone wins. S3 looks too big and bulky.
I really don't like to compare phones because each has it's own specialties. But I've been an Apple user since 2009 – and my phone is still up to date even if the physical looks changes, the OS is still the same with iPhone 4,4s and 5. ๐
Goodluck girl. May the best phone wins ๐
I'm also old-fashioned when it comes to gadgets. My cellphone doesn't have wifi, games and many others which are available in iPhones or Android phones. But as long as it serves its purpose, I'm happy with it.
I wish i can help you decide but i am not a good when it comes to gadget,, hehehehe
Happy Easter!!!

samsung has a lot of phone to choose from thats why i think they became number 1 and i think iphone 5 doesnt have any different features from iphone 4s.. humaba lang kaya onti lang bumili. hehehe i am planning to buy ipad mini too.. hehe it's much cheaper that iphone5 kasi.. hehhehe
Stocks! Gadgets can wait. hihihi..
Actually, I think they can really beat the big Apple company ๐
I'm biased, because I'm an Apple fan. I believe in it's innovative culture. ๐ But if you talk about investments, it's not good to invest in a gadget because new versions come almost every month. ๐
Stocks! Pero if you really want one, go for the iPad Mini and use your current phone until it completely dies on you. ๐ Kung new phone talaga, iPhone's got my vote syempre ๐
I've heard lots of good things about the Samsung and especially the latest Galaxy. Choose wisely and enjoy. I'm not an Apple fan for the simple reason that I feel they should make their prices affordable for the masses and give more to Charity… Just my two cents. ๐

Invest in stocks na lang hehehe..Pero if gusto mo ng gadget talaga, go for Samsung. Smartphones and tablets that run in android environment are more flexible in terms of applications maraming free apps compared to iphone halos may bayad lahat. Sensya na ha, I just love Samsung! Feeling ko ang iphone is pang status symbol lang talaga hehe..
You could borrow from people with iPhone and Samsung and just play around with their phones (but don't delete anything and don't buy anything, haha!). I go with the user interface and I find iPhones friendlier for a technology-challeneged person like me. ๐
*technology-challenged
The frugal mom in me says go for stocks. :)) I'm also not a techie person so hubby is always the one who decides which computer, phone, or gadget to buy. I trust him fully coz he's a comsci grad aka computer geek. ๐ He has a Samsung phone and an Acer lappy. When I asked if I could get the kids an iPad mini, he told me he'd rather get an Android one coz it's more flexible.
I am almost extinct. Ipa-carbon date mo na ako. ahaha My phone is a Nokia 6230i. I am too attached with this phone. If I have money to spare, I want an iPhone.
I've been using Samsung smart phone for the longest time and this I tell you, I will never trade it for an iPhone. ๐ I just love it so much!
For style and design, iPhone, for usability and serving its real purpose (as a smart phone), Samsung will do. It's all based sa opinion ko ๐
nice infographics you got there. if you're really eyeing either one of this, perhaps you should try to assess first your lifestyle. Then that should answer which gadget you'll be getting because you'll be using it based on your activities.
