You love them, but most of the time, you are so clueless and don’t understand them and their decisions. Your Mom and Dad may suddenly be mysterious, even though they do try to be hip like you (Okay, I admit. I am a MOM, but I am drawn to Young Adult books).Crack the code and find out about your mom and dad’s mysterious lives – and minds.

Mystery #1: Why do they have bad moods when they work late?
Your parents put in a lot of hours at work because they want to be able to provide for your needs, like the best education, and yes, they think of everything you want, like new clothes, the latest XBox, the hippest sneakers. If your Mom or Dad comes home for work in a foul mood, remember this: Parents aren’t perfect. Sometimes, they are so tired you can’t talk to them or they may even pour out their stress on you, but try to understand the reason why. Instead of feeling guilty that it’s your fault (IT’S NOT) or feeling hurt because of something they say (THEY PROBABLY DON’T MEAN IT), help them de-stress by getting them to talk about their day and rant to you for a change. Then spend time with them on their days-off.
Mystery #2: What are they really like in the outside world when they’re not acting all parental to me?
Parents have a ton of other sides you may not know about. You just have to discover them! Just like you’re a daughter, a student, a bestie and more, your dad and mom have other (secret) identities too. Dad could be the office joker who never runs out of funny stories. Mom could be the glam guru to her group of friends. Next time they tell stories about their lives outside the four walls of your house, listen up instead of zoning out or walking off. You’ll be surprised how cool they actually are!
Mystery #3: What do they do when they go out with their friends?
Well you're right about these insights and parents are not perfect but trying to make everything perfect for the children.
Oh, these are good questions!!! And very interesting! XD
kids should read this. but i think its good for us parents to let our kids see how we are in the work setting or how we are with our closest friends. at least they will pretty much have an idea that we're still humans. lol
This was a funny piece to read… and insightful too. Parents are not perfect; they are human and flawed like everyone else. I agree. 🙂

Nice topic ha! Kaya dapat din isama ng parents ang kids nila sa mga lakad nila with friends paminsan minsan, para the kids get an idea how Mom and Dad are in the eyes of others 🙂
Interesting answers and questions. When the teenagers become adults themselves then they will be able to understand us.
That teenage years also is the one of the most difficult phase for parents. I am sure there will many clashes and they will just understand us parents, the way we do understand our parents, when they grow older. I love this piece 🙂
