There comes a time in your life – read: once or twice a year –when you need to trade your comfy jeans and white shirt – for a red carpet-worthy fabulous special occasion dress.
If there is something I have learned from fashionista friends, it is this: trends come and go, but that does not mean you have to wear trends that is not you. It also does not mean you need to sacrifice comfort just to keep up with what’s in.
One key staple that can be styled in multiple ways and can be worn in different occasions is the timeless Little Black Dress.
Popularized by Coco Chanel in the 1920s, the LBD transcends time as it became the number one “must-have” in every woman’s closet.
As Karl Lagerfeld, fashion designer, said,
“One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress.”
The LBD is perfect to wear on cocktail parties, evening events, and proms (surprised?). You can even dress down your LBD while shipping with a denim jacket and a pair of sneakers! Now, how versatile is that!
And who told you you cannot use an LBD for the prom?
Look at this elegant lace prom dress!
Be simple or make a statement, this lace prom dress makes you ready for the night’s revelries.
Lacy LBD’s also seem to be the choice of Emma Watson and Taylor Swift.
LBDs are cute and sexy, yet elegant and feminine!
However, choosing that perfect Little Black Dress can be tricky considering that we have different styles and body types.
Here is a basic 101 on wearing the perfect LBD :
Go classic. You would like to have an LBD that you can wear year after year, right? Go for classic lines, simple silhouette, refined design.
Go for a classic fabric. Avoid going for tulle, fringy or shimmery black fabrics. Wools and silks are your best bet.
Go for an LBD that will flatter your body shape. Clean lines, simple silhouette, V-necklines, accessories will create tasteful and fitting style. Don’t wear an LBD that is too little on your body.
And oh, one last tip.
