One running joke in the family (years ago, mind you) was
that I didn’t know how to cook. Each
time I volunteered to cook, everyone would say they would rather eat out. I never was a domestic diva.

Although my mom was a great cook, I was always
that someone in the family who ended up with burned rice. If I were to put up a restaurant, I would
probably serve boiled eggs (unless they get burned because I tend to forget
that they are boiling in the pot) and instant noodles. It was only when I had kids that I got
interested in cooking. Children are so
easy to please. For them, everything I
cook is yummy.
A couple of years and three kids later, I have finally
unleashed the domestic diva. I may not
be the best of cooks, but my kids love what I cook. I still burn the rice sometimes, but I do try
to experiment and come up with delicious dishes.

Back to my dad. He
thought I was a lousy cook, that’s because
he is a mighty good one, which is just one of the many things I love and miss
about him.
