#HABIMama After all weavers are mothers too...
Driven by its advocacy to preserve and promote the local textile industry, HABI: The Philippine Textile Council continues to provide platforms for local weavers to showcase their work. HABI supports an ecosystem of makers and mothers all over the Philippines, as we all have the same interest in providing for our families and sharing traditions given that we have products from different places and communities. We would like to come together for this highly anticipated event to show our support for mothers on Mother’s Day.

This fair hopes to call attention to a special day when we all honor our mothers, sisters, grandmothers and individuals who have been like mothers to us.
Likewise, we call attention to the fact that the weavers we collaborate with are also mothers like many of us who work hard to support their families.

HABI wants to find creative virtual ways to celebrate mom from a distance. Mother’s Day is on May 9. Again this year, many of us are rethinking how to give extra recognition to moms, especially if we’re apart. Mother’s Day celebrates motherhood and is a day to make an extra-special effort to recognize and appreciate mothers’ roles in our lives. Often this day is extended to generations of mothers—grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers—as well as to mother figures.

HABI – the Philippine Textile Council has been a strong forefront of its advocacy in supporting weaving communities and local artisans all over the Philippines and has its annual trade fair every October during indigenous month. This year is HABI’s 12th year, and as a non-stock non-profit organization it always continues to find ways to help uplift our local artisan communities.
A pioneer in artisan fairs and local textile advocacy, the Likhang HABI Online Market Fair will showcase curated gift baskets that have been especially selected as HABI Mama Gift sets including sustainable and ethical fashion and lifestyle products from over 28 merchants representing various weaving and local artisan communities from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
